What is a Commitment Ceremony?

Whilst a commitment ceremony is not considered a ‘legal’ marriage, commitment ceremonies can be officiated in a way which is extremely similar to a marriage ceremony.

Current legislation regarding commitment ceremonies insists that by law, authorised celebrants should deliver an appropriate introduction at the beginning of the ceremony to make it clear to guests that the ceremony is not a ‘legal’ marriage ceremony.

Under these guidelines, an experienced celebrant (plug here: such as myself!) will word and craft your ceremony in a manner which absolutely embraces and publicly recognises your love and lifelong commitment to each other.

A Commitment Ceremony or a Marriage Ceremony?

Pre Wedding Commitment Ceremony

Quite often in my work, I meet couples from different cultural backgrounds who prefer to hold their wedding in their partners’ home country. A commitment ceremony is the perfect opportunity to celebrate with their Australian Family and Friends before or after the legal ceremony.

An experienced celebrant will craft your ceremony and presentation in a much similar way to a wedding ceremony. The ceremony will be as beautiful and meaningful for your guests, however, the celebrant must ensure that guests are aware that this ceremony is a commitment ceremony where you are celebrating your love, vows and union

Elopement Wedding Commitment Ceremony

What fun!  You’ve both eloped – escaped some of the drama to just be yourselves, and now gorgeous Great Aunt Theodocia along with Family and Friends insist on celebrating with a formal wedding party.

An experienced celebrant will craft your ceremony and presentation in a much similar way to a wedding ceremony. The ceremony will be as beautiful and meaningful for your guests, however, the celebrant must ensure that guests view this ceremony is a commitment ceremony where you are celebrating your love, vows and union.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your Commitment Ceremony plans, I would love to hear from you.
