11 Mar Surprise Secret Wedding
Surprise weddings can legally be a surprise to your guests but absolutely not to either the bride or groom.
I have recently had the wonderfully mischievous pleasure to marry secret wedding squirrels, Kristin and Shaun.
Kristin and Shaun had many meetings with me prior to their so called ‘Engagement Party’. All of their legalities were in order so it was down to ‘smoke and mirrors and careful planning’ for their special wedding day.
Guests were invited to attend the ‘engagement party’ at 11.30 am.
An hour before the ceremony and dressed casually as if a patron to The Cricketers Arms Hotel, Prospect NSW, it was tricky for me not to hug the groom as he and best man snuck in to jooz tables with fancy decorations.
Our plan was to meet ‘at the tree outside of the venue’ at 11.45am – “be discreet- be very discreet” was my message.
Let me tell you, a celebrant can’t get much more discreet than changing into glam wear in the cool room behind the otto bins. Too much fun – frantic nonetheless!
Gorgeous Kristin and Shaun arrived at the tree looking glorious in their wedding attire and very much a couple in love.
Our Ceremony began with:
“Family and Friends, welcome to the engagement party of Kristin and Shaun!” “I am sure you are all wondering when their wedding will be – where will it be? – will I be invited?”
“Well let me tell you……….you are all invited”
“My name is Sandie Bizys and I just happen to be a marriage celebrant. We are gathered here today…”
The rest is beautiful history. Congratulations on keeping the wedding a secret, Kristin and Shaun.
